Friends of the Salt River Wild Horses Endorses Cody Reim for Arizona House in LD3
Friends of the Salt River Wild Horses is proud to endorse Cody Reim for one of the two Arizona House seats in Legislative District 3.
In an era of intense partisanship, Cody has demonstrated that protecting Arizona’s wild horses can rise above party lines. Republicans, Democrats and independents may disagree on many issues, but compassion, responsible stewardship, government accountability and respect for science are values shared by Arizonans across the political spectrum.
Cody sponsored SB 1199, legislation intended to bring greater scientific review, transparency and accountability to decisions affecting Arizona’s wild horses. He did not simply introduce the bill and hope others would carry it forward. He fought for it.
We watched Cody on the House floor move from representative to representative, personally making the case for the legislation and gathering the support necessary to bring it to an immediate floor vote. When he secured the final vote needed, SB 1199 was placed on the floor and passed with a two-thirds majority.
The room erupted in cheers and applause unlike anything we had witnessed for another bill. It was an emotional moment, not only because of what the vote meant for the horses, but because lawmakers from different political parties had come together in support of a shared cause.
Although SB 1199 did not ultimately complete the legislative process, Cody’s determination gave Arizona’s wild horses a strong voice at the Capitol. He showed that one legislator willing to listen, work across the aisle and remain tenacious can make a meaningful difference.
Cody has also committed to returning to this issue during the next legislative session and continuing the fight for meaningful protection for Arizona’s beloved wild horses. His persistence matters. When Cody believes in a cause, he does not simply offer words of support. He works, persuades, builds coalitions and keeps pushing for results.
Wild horses represent freedom, resilience, family and a profound connection to the natural world. For many Arizonans, they are more than animals in the landscape. They speak to our souls and remind us of something our state must not lose.
Protecting Arizona’s wild horses is not solely a Republican issue or a Democratic issue. It is an Arizona issue.
